Strachur Primary School New Computer and Coding Club

Strachur Primary School New Computer and Coding Club

Strachur pupils and parents want to purchase an interactive board for our school. Being a small remote school means that our children can’t take part in the many wonderful clubs that are available to town based children. We therefor have to organise our own clubs using the local communities’ skills and we want to start our own coding and technology club. In order to do this we want to purchase an interactive board for use with all our clubs and activities.

The pupils at this happy and forward thinking school would benefit by the purchase of an interactive board. Being a rural school the children are disadvantaged by not having access to many of the activities town children have. Not only would classes be enhanced but after school clubs would become more interesting.

We are a small rural school that has a fabulous reputation doing an amazing job with limited resources like everyone. But unlike Dunoon based Primary children any clubs or facilities on their 'doorstep ' have to be created by parent, community and school groups. The support from individuals in these groups is extraordinary and relentless but the funding is always a problem, this would make a massive difference to the children and their future.

An interactive board would enable the children to develop digital skills as a whole group, to engage interactively and make learning a more dynamic experience. This is a small rural school keen to embrace digital learning in order to offer a variety of fun after school activities.

Interactive board for strachur school clubs... This would be an amazing asset to this rural Primary School. Giving these children the opportunity to develop digital skills that a lot of larger schools take for granted.

Samantha MacPhee Our wee school at Strachur would benefit so much from being able to purchase an interactive board. It would be lovely for the children to have more after school activities without the long journeys to Dunoon or Glasgow.

The provision of an interactive board would be a great asset for this small rural school. It would allow more after school clubs to provide interesting and up-to-date projects. It would be great to be able to have more after school clubs for the children in Strachur rather than driving all the way to Dunoon.

We are a small rural school, the school has a great reputation and would benefit the kids with an interactive board to help further there education and after School activities instead of them having to travel 25 mins into dunoon.

I like many others think this is a fantastic idea for this great wee school. Being a former pupil of this remote Primary School, I remember well the feeling of disappointment of not having as many clubs/activities as my cousins in the nearest town. An interactive board for a coding & technology club, amongst other activities, in this digital world would be a huge asset for our children & also parents who struggle to take kids the distance to urban clubs.

This will enable pupils to enhance their digital skills equally, assist social inclusion, and encourage them to learn good communication, introducing them to a range of other subjects, including music, sport, leisure and recreational activities, which can help the development of interpersonal skills, and can lead to hands on experience. For example the children could be involved in becoming more familiar with, and respectful of their local marine environment. Ian Arnold Secy: SBMA SC 046867

Please consider Strachur Primary for the interactive board, this is a great school despite the challenges it has had to face. Our children are extremely keen to learn and would really benefit from having this as the options in the surrounding area are very limited. It would ensure they get a great start for their futures.
